About the Sheriff

Keith O. Wood

Meigs County Sheriff, Keith O. Wood, took office on January 1, 2013 after winning the race against former Sheriff, Bob Beegle. Sheriff Wood is currently on his third term as Sheriff of Meigs County. Sheriff Wood has implemented several programs across the county since getting elected Sheriff as well as continuing already started programs. Sheriff Wood has contracted with all the school districts in Meigs County to have a School Resource Officer in each school. This helps bridge the gap between law enforcement and the children of our county.

The Major Crimes Task Force has opened several investigations leading to the seizure of approx. $7,896,000 in illegal drugs, more than 200 people convicted, nearly 250 search warrants, and approx. $400,000 in cash.

Also, the sheriff has implemented several programs for the adolescents of the community. These programs consist of the Hooked on Fishing, Not on Drugs program, Shop with a Cop, and Drug Prevention Day. The focus with these programs were to incorporate a fundamental for all adolescents in the community.

The mission of the Meigs County Sheriff's Office will consistently strive to maintain and promote a safe community and provide quality law enforcement for all the residents of Meigs County in a courteous and professional manner.
